Rotary Engine Performance Upgrades | Details Matter

Performance Upgrades 13B rotary engineRotary Engine Performance | On our latest build; a 13B six port S5 motor that will have a supercharger.

Crafting rotary engines is our passion, and we take immense pride in meticulously attending to every detail.
On our motor builds, one thing that makes a difference is oiling system upgrades.

Yes, most people follow convention by adding a turbocharger, there are pros and cons to each. For this motor, we add one very important performance / longevity upgrade that makes a difference. A larger oil pump.

Rotary Engine UpgradesRemember, these motors are volume (not pressure) for cooling purposes. The rotary engine uses oil to cool the center / insides of the rotors. A lot of oil moves through this system every minute. Fortunately for us, Mazda made this upgrade easy. Add in the larger / higher volume oil pump from the turbo motors, it bolts right up.

On rebuilds, it is important to take the time to remove the oil pump and measure tolerances & wear. For most of our builds, we replace the oil pump and chain as they are worn out and the chain is stretched. What makes the chain stretch? This chain does a lot of work, add in high temperatures, metal has its limits.

Given Colorado's unique altitude and temperature conditions, as well as those in other parts of the USA and the world, adding power also means adding heat. Therefore, it is crucial to develop a comprehensive action plan for the entire vehicle, not just the engine.

As I tell every engine build owner, I want to only see the inside of your engine one time, we are going to do it right the first time.
